A great way to see results
As we train sometimes it is hard to see our progress, this is where goal setting comes into play. Having a tangible measureable goal helps us to see our progress, as we see progress we feel empowered to push ourselves even harder. If we don’t see progress or fail to reach a goal then we need to reevaluate what we did and why it didn’t work. This is where we may get frustrated or lose our determination, as we consider missing the goal a failure rather look at this as just your first attempt at overcoming a hurdle. In the Kick Boxing classes this month everyone will be measuring their progress with the number of pushups they can complete. Now the number you start off the month with really isn’t that important, nor is it the number you end the month at, what is important is that you see yourself getting stronger and progressing. The way we are doing this is quite simple right inside the KB room everyone’s name is listed on the white board, so when you come in for your class the first thing you will do after getting your wraps on is to bang out as many pushups in a row as you can without stopping, record your number next to your name. On your Next class you will try and beat your number by at least 1. During your class you will get physically stronger but this will help your mental discipline to push yourself. Remember the goal is just to add 1 more push up per class so if you started off with 10 after only 10 classes 2-3 weeks you just doubled your pushups! Even if you only beat your goal ½ the time at the end of the month you will have significantly increased your pushup count. But what is the real accomplishment? You will learn to see positive and negative results and use that information to push yourself to new levels. Not training with us? No problem you can do this at home with a simple sheet of paper and pen. Good luck with breaking through those goals.
